Privacy
Nothing leaves your iPhone. Years has no account, no analytics, no trackers, no third-party SDK, and no server for your health data or photo to reach.
In short
- Apple Health data is read on your device, with your permission, and stays there.
- Your optional photo is stored only on this device. It never uploads.
- Biological age, notes, and notifications are computed and stored on device.
- There is no sign-in, no cloud backup of Years data by us, and no advertising ID.
Who we are
Years is an independent iPhone app at getyears.app. For questions about this policy, use the contact on the support page.
What the app uses on your device
Apple Health (HealthKit). With your permission, Years reads health samples such as resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, Cardio Fitness (VO₂max), steps, sleep, daylight, and related signals. They feed an on-device biological-age estimate, daily notes, optional illness-related prompts (which you confirm), widgets, and notifications. Years does not write to HealthKit and does not share Health data with anyone.
Photo (optional). You may add a photo from the camera or library to show on Your Years next to your estimate. It is stored in the app’s container on your phone. You can remove it in Settings. The photo is never required and never leaves the device.
Birthday and country. Used on device for calendar age and the Heartbeats visualization (life-table based estimate). Stored locally.
Routine and notification preferences. Answers and toggle settings you choose are stored locally so notes and nudges fit your day.
Local history. Trend history and message state live in the app’s local storage (and, for widgets, an App Group shared only with Years extensions on the same device / paired watch).
What never leaves the device
HealthKit readings, your photo, biological-age results, notes, notification copy choices, and settings are not uploaded to Years, to a backend we operate, or to analytics vendors. The shipping free app has no cloud inference path and no third-party SDK for tracking or crash reporting.
Apple may process data under Apple’s own policies when you use system services (for example Health, notifications, iCloud device backup if you enable it for the phone, App Store). That is Apple’s infrastructure, not a Years server.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Years schedules them on device. Content is chosen on device from a catalogue that ships in the app. You can turn categories off in Settings or revoke permission in iOS Settings.
Watch and widgets
Optional Home Screen / Lock Screen widgets and Apple Watch surfaces show a snapshot written into a private App Group container on your devices. That channel stays on your hardware; it is not a web service.
This website
getyears.app is static files (hosting only). No account, no forms that collect personal data by default, no analytics scripts from Years, and no cookies set by Years for tracking. Server logs from the host (if any) are outside the app’s on-device design; we do not run a product analytics stack on this site.
Children
Years is not directed at children under 13. Do not use the app if you are under the age required by Apple’s App Store and local law for health-related apps in your region.
Not medical care
Years is a wellness and longevity practice tool, not a medical device and not a diagnosis. Biological age and Heartbeats are estimates and visualizations for reflection, not clinical results or a promise of lifespan.
Your choices
- Deny or revoke Health access in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access.
- Skip or remove your photo in the app.
- Disable notifications in the app or in iOS Settings.
- Delete the app to remove Years’ on-device data (subject to any iCloud backup of the device you control).
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and the page at getyears.app/privacy. Material changes that affect how the app handles data will ship with an app update when the binary changes.
Straight from the product design: on-device only. If something here ever disagrees with the shipping binary, treat the binary’s behavior as the source of truth and write to support so we can fix the page.
